Job summary

Trenholm State Community College in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a Project Advisor for the Upward Bound program to assist with administration, implementation, and continuation of TRIO services that support college readiness.

You will coordinate workshops, maintain participant records, conduct information sessions, help with financial aid tasks, and collaborate with the Director to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Two years of professional work experience in education, counseling, social work, or related field.
• One year of professional experience working in a federal TRIO program or similar program for disadvantaged/low-income youth.
• Must be able to perform duties in an effective and ethical manner to assure that the objectives of the project are met within the guidelines of legislation, regulations and commitment as stated in the grant.
• Ability to operate Microsoft office suite, Excel, Google Suite, Teams, Blumen, Banner.
• Adequate interpersonal skills to work well with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment, retention, and participation of program participants in accordance with federal regulations and departmental guidelines.
• Plan and coordinate, implement, chaperone, and evaluate academic, social, and cultural programs for students and families.
• Maintain up-to-date project records using National student clearinghouse.
• Conduct information sessions regarding TRIO programs for students, parents, counselors, and school administrators.
• Review monthly progress reports and develop an individualized educational plan for each participant.
• Maintain a caseload of participants, provide services (virtual/in-person), and conduct group workshops and support.
• Assist participants with post-secondary options and financial aid/admissions tasks.
• Maintain confidential records of student services, daily sessions, and annual summaries.
• Refer participants to additional support services as needed.
• Organize workshops or seminars on financial aid, nutrition, health, wellness, mental health, substance abuse, and cultural issues.
• Participate in professional development and serve on committees.
• Coordinate student activities compliant with TRIO Upward Bound regulations.
