Job summary

Penn State University’s TRIO Upward Bound Altoona is seeking a Program Advisor (Student Advocacy Specialist) to organize and implement social, educational, and service-learning activities for high school participants. The role includes recruitment, advising, and on-site coordination with school districts to support college readiness.

The ideal candidate will work with 9th–12th graders from low-income, first-generation backgrounds and will maintain federal grant compliance and cross-unit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 1+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working with high school students in a team environment.
• Experience advising, tutoring, or referring students to college readiness and financial aid services.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and program for grant-determined school district population, events with parents/students, and community stakeholders.
• Advise, tutor, or refer participants on high school coursework, college readiness, financial aid, health, career services, leadership and inclusion.
• Develop and implement academic year and summer programs in compliance with federal guidelines.
• Maintain relationships with school districts, community partners, and university offices.
