Job summary

Virginia Tech's SCHEV-position coordinator facilitates educational opportunity, access and degree completion for low-income students across all majors.

The coordinator informs prospective students and families about post-secondary options, advocates for Pell-eligible students in CAC pre-college programs, and helps prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition while gathering data for program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or other credential related to education, or a combination of education and experience to be successful in the role.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region
  • Experience working with underrepresented and underserved students and their families
  • Travel and the ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Virginia Tech knowledge through education or work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with college access, student success and retention strategies
  • Familiarity with federal financial aid programs
  • Basic data analysis skills
