Job summary

Thrivent Financial is seeking a Collector to support unsecured and secured loan collections, delinquencies, and loss mitigation. You will work with borrowers to resolve delinquency, document activity, and coordinate with internal teams to protect asset quality in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include managing delinquent accounts, maintaining call quality, pursuing recovery of charged-off loans, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of banking, collections, lending, call center, or customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with borrowers and internal partners.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Job description

The Collector is responsible for supporting collection activities related to unsecured and secured consumer loans, small business loans, mortgage and home equity loans, and overdrawn deposit accounts. This role works with borrowers to resolve delinquent accounts, reduce credit losses, and support overall asset quality in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. The Collector documents collection activity, recommends appropriate next steps, and partners with internal teams to help maintain delinquencies and losses within the credit risk appetite and tolerance measures of the organization.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage assigned delinquent accounts in accordance with established collection procedures, credit risk appetite, and tolerance measures.Maintain call quality standards through professional, respectful, and effective communication with borrowers to support resolution of delinquency.Pursue recovery of charged-off loans and deposit accounts consistent with established goals and procedures.Evaluate borrower circumstances and recommend appropriate collection actions or alternative repayment solutions.Document all collection activity, borrower communications, payment arrangements, and account status updates accurately and timely.Support periodic review of delinquent and non-performing accounts and provide information to assist with charge-off recommendations.Coordinate with internal partners and approved vendors, as directed, to support collection activity, repossession, recovery, and account resolution efforts.Attend internal and external training programs related to collections, customer service, and applicable compliance requirements.Perform other collection-related tasks as assigned or requested.Interacts with other Collectors, Collections leadership, Chief Credit Officer, Lenders, Bankers, Call Center, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Accounting, approved collection vendors, and borrowers to support account resolution and loss mitigation efforts.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Required:High school diploma or equivalent1-3 years of banking, collections, lending, call center, or customer service experience.General knowledge of banking and lending processesAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with borrowers, internal partners, and external service providers.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to accurately document account activity.Basic proficiency with Microsoft OfficePreferred:Working knowledge of collection practices and applicable federal and state collection laws, or ability to develop proficiency through training.Prior experience in financial services collections, loan servicing, or deposit account servicing.Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and escalate higher-risk or complex account situations appropriately.Familiarity with repossession, foreclosure, bankruptcy, charge-off, or recovery processes and systems.Pay TransparencyThrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $17.96 - $24.30 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions.
