Job summary

Maine State CU is hiring a Collections Specialist in Farmingdale to reduce delinquency and minimize loan losses by working with members on repayment solutions and supporting their financial success.

The role covers delinquent consumer, mortgage, credit card, and commercial accounts, with collaboration with the VP of Lending, Collections Manager, and other teams to ensure fair and compliant collection activities.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of collections, lending, loan servicing, asset recovery, or related financial institution experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.
• Comfort working with members experiencing financial hardship.
• Experience with repossessions preferred.
• Commercial collections experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage delinquent consumer, mortgage, credit card, and commercial loan accounts.
• Contact members and negotiate payment solutions.
• Maintain accurate collection records and documentation.
• Handle recoveries, charge-offs, repossessions, and related collection activities.
• Work with attorneys, vendors, and internal teams to resolve delinquent accounts.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and credit union policies.
