Job summary

Rumpke is seeking a Collections Specialist to manage a portfolio of accounts, contact customers for past-due payments, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain accurate records. This role emphasizes compliance with credit policies, timely follow-up, and collaboration with internal teams to minimize delinquencies.

You will work in a team oriented environment at Rumpke, with opportunities to develop skills in collections, ERP systems, and customer service within a stable, family-owned company.

Qualifications

• 1 year of previous collections or customer service experience preferred
• Commercial collection experience a plus
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state collection laws, including TCPA

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts, monitoring aging and outstanding balances to drive timely collection
• Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to follow up on past-due invoices
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, short pays, and deductions, coordinating with internal teams as needed
• Establish payment arrangements within established guidelines and escalated delinquent or high-risk accounts to management
• Apply payments accurately and reconcile assigned accounts to keep records current and complete
• Document all collection activity, customer communications, and account status
• Support month-end close activities, including aging reviews and reporting on assigned accounts
• Ensure compliance with company credit and collections policies, internal controls, and applicable regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned
