Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a Collections Specialist in Cincinnati, OH to manage a portfolio of accounts and drive timely payments. You will contact customers, resolve billing discrepancies, and apply payments while maintaining accurate records.

The role supports month-end close, adheres to credit policies, and requires basic Excel and ERP familiarity in a fast-paced environment. This is a non-exempt, individual contributor position.

Qualifications

• 1 year of collections or customer service experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state collection laws, including TCPA.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts, monitoring aging and outstanding balances to drive timely collection.
• Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to follow up on past-due invoices.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, short pays, and deductions, coordinating with internal teams as needed.
• Establish payment arrangements within established guidelines and elevate delinquent or high-risk accounts to management.
• Apply payments accurately and reconcile assigned accounts to keep records current and complete.
• Document all collection activity, customer communications, and account status.
• Support month-end close activities, including aging reviews and reporting on assigned accounts.
• Ensure compliance with company credit and collections policies, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
