ISR Physical Therapy of Houma is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join our front office team. The role combines medical collections duties with frontline desk support in a clinical setting, ensuring accounts are resolved and patients are assisted efficiently.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of HIPAA, experience with insurance verification, and strong communication skills to coordinate with patients, insurers, and attorneys while maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical collections or medical billing.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and claims processing
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in medical practice management software and Microsoft Office
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Responsibilities

• Manage and follow up on outstanding patient, insurance, and attorney accounts to ensure timely resolution
• Review and work aging reports to identify and prioritize delinquent accounts
• Contact patients, insurance carriers, and attorneys regarding outstanding balances via phone, mail, and electronic communication
• Negotiate and set up payment arrangements in accordance with office policy
• Maintain thorough documentation of all collection activity and account notes
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and managing the appointment calendar
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments
• Greet and check in patients in a professional and courteous manner
• Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and outstanding balances at the time of service
• Assist with billing inquiries and direct patients to appropriate resources
• Perform general administrative duties as needed to support daily office operations
