Chatham County is seeking a detail-oriented supervisor for the County Collection Centers to oversee Attendants, schedule weekly staff, and inspect centers for safety and cleanliness. The role supports efficient operations under the Solid Waste Manager and requires strong communication and leadership skills.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with two years of supervisory experience, proficiency with Word/Excel/Outlook, and the ability to train staff and manage safety practices

Performs semiskilled work in the supervision of the Chatham County Collection Centers including supervision of the Collection Center Attendants, preparing weekly staffing schedules, and conducting weekly inspections of the Collection Centers. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Solid Waste Manager with the ability to exercise independent judgment within the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The following essential functions serve as a general guide for this position. Position functions are subject to change based on departmental needs and external factors including, but not limited to, regulatory requirements.
High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, handling, feeling and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing, balancing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas orally; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visually inspecting small defects and/or small parts, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally require working near moving mechanical parts; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
