Job summary

The Psychology and Child Development Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, seeks two full-time, academic-year, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professors in Cognitive Neuroscience to begin around August 12, 2027.

Applicants must have a PhD in cognitive neuroscience or a related field by hire and show evidence of scholarly achievement and experience with neuroscientific methods.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in cognitive neuroscience or related field by time of appointment (Aug 12, 2027).
• Evidence of scholarly achievement in candidate’s area.
• Experience with neuroscientific methods achievable at Cal Poly.
• Commitment to broadening psychology to include underrepresented groups.
• Demonstrated university teaching experience.
• Proficient written and oral English.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses such as Biopsychology, Cognition, Memory, Cognitive Neuroscience, Behavioral Effects of Psychoactive Drugs, Memory, Sensation and Perception, and Research Methods.
• Develop new courses within candidate’s area of specialization.
• Maintain an active program of scholarly activity and professional engagement.
• Contribute to departmental service and student mentorship.
