Cal Poly seeks an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Child Development with a focus on cognitive neuroscience to join an undergraduate-focused teaching and research environment in San Luis Obispo. PhD in cognitive neuroscience by August 12, 2027 is required; ABD considered.

Experience with neuroscientific methods and a plan to expand the department’s research portfolio are essential. A commitment to inclusive teaching and diversity is expected.

Qualifications

PhD in cognitive neuroscience or related field by time of appointment (ABD considered).
Evidence of scholarly achievement in specialization.
Experience with neuroscientific methods and a research plan including those methods.
Commitment to broadening psychology to include underrepresented groups, via research, service, mentorship, or course content.
Demonstrated university teaching experience.
Proficiency in written and oral English.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses such as Biopsychology, Cognition, Memory, Cognitive Neuroscience, Behavioral Effects of Psychoactive Drugs, Memory, Sensation and Perception, and/or Research Methods.
Develop and maintain an active research program at a primarily undergraduate institution.
Balance teaching with research, student supervision, and service activities.
