Job summary

Sightglass Coffee Roasters in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Store Manager to lead cafe operations, hire and develop a strong team, and ensure exceptional hospitality and coffee experiences while driving financial and operational goals.

The role covers daily oversight of customer service, beverage prep, scheduling, payroll duties, training, product knowledge, health and safety, and collaboration with the Education Team to schedule trainings.

Qualifications

• Oversee daily operations including customer service, beverage prep, merchandising, and workflow.
• Lead and schedule staff, ensuring proper coverage and leadership support.
• Manage payroll duties, timecards, and tip sheets with POPS.
• Educate staff and customers on products; maintain health and safety standards.
• Review financial results and drive actions to improve performance.
• Train and coach team; implement progressive discipline when needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overseeing daily operations, including customer service, beverage preparation and presentation, merchandising, and workflow.
• Supervise staff and ensure that the store is properly staffed at all times, including properly scheduled daily leadership support.
• Responsible for daily back-of-house operations including scheduling, ordering, banking, recruitment, timesheets, and inventory.
• Remains knowledgeable and educates staff and customers on current product offerings including beans, drinks, food, and merchandise.
• Oversee all ordering including coffee, milk, pastries, inventory, etc.
• Monitor and analyze store performance and take action to improve results.
• Uphold and follow all health, food safety, and safety guidelines.
• Adheres to and ensures accountability around company policies, including but not limited to, cash handling, product standards, safety standards, cleanliness standards, facility maintenance and hospitality best practices.
• Regularly review financial results, identifying and driving changes needed to improve financial performance.
• Provides feedback to their team in a constructive manner. Coaches Assistant Store Manager and Shift Leads on feedback best practices and follow up. Implements progressive discipline guidelines when necessary.
• Responsible for payroll duties such as approving timecards, editing timecards, adjusting tip sheets, and coordinating with POPS when payroll responsibilities are complete.
• Partner with the Education Team to ensure proper and thoughtful trainings are scheduled for all employees.
• Maintains shift flow by delegating tasks, (cleaning, stocking, prepping), and ensuring the staff is focused on customer support and sales.
• Remains aware of staff scheduling needs while keeping staffing levels within budget. Works collaboratively with People Operations to interview and onboard new employees.
• Conducts monthly inventory as assigned.
• Respond to all customer and staff inquiries with patience, confidence, and professionalism.
