Job summary

The role values 4+ years in hospital coding, supervisory capability, and familiarity with multi-specialty coding; remote coding experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years hospital coding/HIM inpatient/outpatient experience required.
• Management/supervisory experience preferred.
• Specialty hospital coding experience preferred.
• Experience coding across multiple specialties; remote coding preferred.
• Certifications RHIA/RHIT/CCS likely required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing Hospital Coding Operations team. Provide daily updates regarding coding processes, intra-departmental chart review requests and quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and governing agencies. Assists with developing policies and procedures to facilitate timely coding and accurate reimbursement.

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 4 years of Hospital Coding/HIM Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding experience Required
• Management/Supervisory experience in healthcare related field Preferred
• Specialty Hospital Coding experience Preferred
• Experience in coding across multiple specialties within a hospital coding environment and remote coding experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• One or more of the following certifications: Upon Hire Required
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator or
• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist
