The role emphasizes compliance with policies and governing bodies, plus development of procedures to ensure timely coding and accurate reimbursement across inpatient and outpatient services.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years hospital coding/HIM inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience required.
• Management/supervisory experience in healthcare related field preferred.
• Specialty hospital coding experience preferred.
• Experience in coding across multiple specialties within a hospital coding environment and remote coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Hospital Coding Operations team.
• Provide daily updates regarding coding processes, intra-departmental chart review requests and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and governing agencies.
• Assist with developing policies and procedures to facilitate timely coding and accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 4 years of Hospital Coding/HIM Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding experience Required
• Management/Supervisory experience in healthcare related field Preferred
• Specialty Hospital Coding experience Preferred
• Experience in coding across multiple specialties within a hospital coding environment and remote coding experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• One or more of the following certifications: Upon Hire Required
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator or
• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist
