Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking an experienced Coding Operations Education Manager to lead and supervise the daily operations of the Coding Operations Education team in Nashville.

You will drive staffing, workflow efficiency, and staff development while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. Responsibilities include mentoring staff, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with coding documentation payer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; equivalent work experience may substitute education requirements.
• 3 years healthcare management experience required
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare coding, revenue cycle, financial or clinical operations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and communicate with other departments to share information, best practices, systems issues, process solutions, and training needs.
• Proactively review data and provide analysis and financial impact assessment
• Establish and review internal controls to meet or exceed goals and benchmarks
• Determine staff hours, number of personnel, and resources required for efficiency
• Screen, interview, hire, and onboard new employees
• Evaluate staff performance and recommend appropriate merit increases and promotions
• Counsel staff regarding disciplinary and performance issues
• Mentor staff for career development
• Ensure training needs are met
• Conduct regular staff meetings
• Maintain working knowledge of workflow, systems, and tools used in the department
• Inform leadership of coding/documentation payer requirements and changes
• Assist in maintenance of coding training administration records
• Champion ideas for innovation and knowledge sharing in coding operations
• Stay abreast of coding/billing regulatory requirements and company policies
• Provide subject matter expertise in development and monitoring of coding master files and processes
• Lead in translation of business reporting requirements to development staff
• Lead in creation and maintenance of positive working environment
• Review engagement results and develop action plans
• Review and approve staff hours
• Adhere to Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement
• Minimal travel (<10%), including practice site visits
• Other duties as assigned
