Job summary

Providence Medical Group is seeking a Coder II to perform coding audits and reviews of outpatient services to support optimization and compliance for our medical group. You will also work side by side with outpatient providers, offering ongoing feedback and coaching on the code entry process, documentation, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCC coding.

This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, using Epic EMR, and proactively identifying issues that impact documentation and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of outpatient medical coding experience.
• Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication.
• EMR experience, preferably Epic.
• Experience coaching and training physicians.
• Proven history of identifying, resolving and escalating issues affecting documentation and reimbursement.
• Strong time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform coding audits and review outpatient services to support optimization and compliance.
• Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support to providers on code entry and documentation.
• Ensure ICD-9, ICD-10 and HCC coding align with reimbursement requirements.

The Coder II performs coding audits and review of outpatient provider services to support coding optimization and compliance for the medical group. In addition to the audit and review work, the Coder II will work side by side with outpatient providers providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and support with the code entry process, documentation, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCC coding in alignment with current medical group reimbursement requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders upon hire, Or
• Certification from American Health Information Management Association Upon hire
• 3 yearsrecent outpatient medical coding experience.
• Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication.
• EMR experience, preferably Epic.
• Experience coaching and training physicians.
• Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes.
• A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
