UF Health Central Florida is seeking a Coder ED/OP responsible for accurate outpatient coding using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 systems. The role involves charge entry, data abstraction, and correcting discrepancies in patient information. Candidates should have relevant training and at least one year of acute care coding experience.
The Coder ED/OP is responsible for ensuring proper coding of outpatient records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems, as well as charge entry for appropriately coded records. They input coding and patient information into the designated computer systems for billing and data abstraction purposes, identify, and correct information discrepancies.
Education:
Post High School Special Training
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Credentials or equivalent through AHIMA or AAPC
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:
- Knowledge of basic and advanced ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding instructions, along with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Verifiable training in coding systems, advanced medical and anatomical terminology, clinical theory, and reimbursement principles obtained through college courses, hospital in-service training, and/or approved seminars.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care coding, including Medicare, MS-DRGs, and APR-DRGs.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
