Job summary

UC San Diego Health is hiring a Code Nurse to provide 24/7 response to Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Stroke and STEMI activations. The RN will perform proactive rounding across units, monitor quality metrics, and drive performance improvements.

The role requires a California RN license, BLS/CPR and ACLS, and strong critical thinking with leadership in a fast-paced critical care setting. Experience in ICU and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Must possess a valid California RN license.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD Code ART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum three years of recent inpatient, acute care adult ICU RN experience or equivalent.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in critical care settings.
• Demonstrates leadership in Code Blue/RRT management.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Experience with quality improvement and performance improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 response to Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Stroke and STEMI activations.
• Proactively round across units and monitor Code Blue and Rapid Response quality metrics.
• Develop and lead performance improvement projects to address gaps.
• Practice autonomously within ANA Standards of Practice with inter-disciplinary collaboration.
• Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents.
