Job summary

The City of Menifee is seeking a Code Enforcement Manager to direct and oversee the City’s code enforcement program within the Police Department. You will supervise staff, interpret ordinances, and coordinate with other divisions to ensure compliance with zoning, nuisance, and building codes.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, five years of municipal code enforcement experience, and a valid California driver’s license; POST certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible municipal code enforcement or professional planning experience, including at least two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
  • Possession of a valid Class "C" California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • POST certificate required at time of employment; CACEO/CACE/AACE certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the City of Menifee's code enforcement program, including setting goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and evaluate code enforcement staff; provide training and discipline as needed.
  • Direct budget planning for the section; forecast staffing, equipment, and materials needs and monitor expenditures.
  • Interpret municipal code violations, determine nuisances, and issue civil fines when needed to gain compliance.
  • Coordinate with other divisions and external agencies; prepare staff reports and represent the department in meetings.
