Job summary

The City of Plantation is seeking a non-exempt code enforcement officer responsible for inspection, investigation and enforcement of codes to protect public safety and welfare in the community.

Responsibilities include coordinating inspections with other departments, issuing notices of violations, initiating enforcement actions, preparing reports and providing sworn testimony. Work may require days, nights or weekends and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent, with municipal code compliance/investigative experience preferred.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required.
• NIMS training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
• F.A.C.E. certification desired, or obtain within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and investigate complaints of alleged violations of City codes.
• Enforce codes, provide notices of violation and initiate enforcement proceedings.
• Coordinate inspections, investigations and enforcement with other City departments.
• Prepare reports and maintain records; provide sworn testimony at legal proceedings.
• Work days, nights or weekends; flex work hours.
