Job summary

The Charter Township of Chesterfield Building & Code Enforcement Department is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to uphold township and state regulations. You will inspect buildings and home construction sites, issue citations, and advise homeowners and developers on compliance.

Responsibilities include enforcing codes, monitoring neighborhoods, guiding public safety, and performing other duties as assigned, with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Prior law enforcement training or equivalent experience.
• Experience in Building Department, Planning & Zoning, or Code Enforcement in the public sector.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Michigan driver's license and insured automobile for travel.
• Preferred: five years code enforcement and/or law enforcement experience.
• Preferred: BS&A software experience.
• Preferred: ability to speak/read/understand a language other than English.

Responsibilities

• Enforces township and state codes and ordinances.
• Inspects buildings and home construction sites.
• Issues citations and letters to homeowners or developers.
• Provides information on Township regulations to homeowners and developers.
• Maintains quality of neighborhoods and communities.
