Job summary
The Village of Orland Park is seeking a full-time Business License Inspector in the Development Services- Building division to enforce business license, building, and zoning codes. You will inspect, review plans, and ensure compliance across multiple codes.
Responsibilities include license inspections, plan reviews, and permit billing; you will coordinate with fire districts and may serve as a back-up plumbing inspector. A strong customer service approach is essential.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required with 4–7 years’ related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform annual business license inspections and maintain renewal/compliance records.
- Coordinate with fire districts to ensure cross-jurisdiction code compliance.
- Inspect building construction/alterations for conformance; stop work if nonconformity.
- Review architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing plans for permits/ occupancy.
- Calculate monies due on building permit applications.
- Direct zoning/building/safety changes and regulations.
- Serve as back-up plumbing inspector and reviewer.
