Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead the inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You plan hold points, verify surface prep and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, and write reports relied upon by owners and engineers.

Travel may be required; a CIP Level 2 certification and SSPC/NACE knowledge are essential for project assignments. Strong communication and sign-off authority ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Familiar with SSPC/NACE surface prep standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent program to owner and applicator.
