Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coatings on industrial, water and infrastructure projects. You plan hold points, verify surface prep, application and cure, and perform adhesion and holiday testing with sign-off authority.

Requirements include AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 with 2+ years of inspection experience; SSPC/NACE standards knowledge; experience on tank, pipeline, water or structural coatings; travel to active job sites; equal

Qualifications

AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years of inspecting under it.
Solid knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close the issue.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer's data.
Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
Disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
Write inspection and nonconformance reports.
Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
