Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects with sign-off authority. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application, and cure, and perform adhesion and holiday testing, writing reports for owners and engineers.

You must hold AMPP CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years on it, and have SSPC/NACE coating standards knowledge along with experience on tank,

Qualifications

AMPP CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years of inspecting under it.
Strong knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and the manufacturer's data.
Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
