Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects, with sign-off authority at hold points per the coating specification. You will verify surface preparation, application and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, resolve nonconformances with the applicator, and write inspection reports relied on by the owner and engineer.

Certification required: AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2.

Qualifications

• AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 certification required, current.
• 2+ years inspecting under CIP Level 2.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing according to coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
• Disposit nonconformances and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Represent the inspection program to owner and applicator.
