Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead coating and lining inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application and cure, sign off at each hold, and perform adhesion and holiday tests to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities include supervising Level 1 inspectors, writing inspection and nonconformance reports, and representing the program to owners and applicators.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Command of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from coating spec and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign‑off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects; review logs; write reports.
• Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
