Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. Responsibilities include verifying surface prep to SSPC/NACE standards, measuring ambient conditions, and documenting the coating process on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Candidates must hold AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, have 1+ year in coatings, and be precise with instruments and logs.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• At least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting, and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to the SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheets.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
