Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep to SSPC/NACE standards and measure ambient conditions, film thickness, and surface profile on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

You will keep the daily inspection log, photograph each stage, and verify materials and batch numbers against data sheets.

Qualifications

• CIP Level 1 certification current and AMPP (NACE) credential.
• At least 1+ year in industrial coatings inspection or application.
• Comfortable working around blasting, spraying, and tanks.
• Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about gauge readings.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph progress.
