Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standards, document coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe and concrete, and monitor the process with precise measurements.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required and current.
• 1+ year of experience in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application, and keep the inspection log.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects; verify coating materials and batch numbers against datasheets.
