Job summary

Construction Material Testing is looking for a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and surface profile, and document every step of the coating application on tanks, structures, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year in coatings inspection.

Qualifications

• Must have AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification and current status.
• At least 1+ year of industrial coatings application or inspection experience.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting, and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coatings materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheets.
• Maintain daily coating inspection logs and photograph each stage of work.
