Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of higher-level inspectors. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, document every coating step, and support inspections on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

This role requires current AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ years of industrial coatings experience.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current and required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about what gauges read.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
