Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under senior guidance. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions, assess film thickness, and document each step on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

We require AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year of coatings inspection/installation experience. Work may involve tanks and blasting operations with meticulous records and instrumentation use.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification is current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working on tanks, structures, and around blasting/spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to the specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer's data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
