Rochester Precision Optics, LLC is seeking a Coating Inspector for our West Henrietta, NY facility on B Shift. You will inspect coated optical components for defects, verify coating characteristics, and document results to ensure they meet specifications before release.

This entry-level role includes structured on-the-job training in optical handling and coating processes, with an emphasis on accuracy, focus, and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training in a related field is beneficial.
• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with exposure to inspection, quality checks, or other detail-oriented processes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect coated optical components for defects such as scratches, pinholes, coating irregularities, and contamination using microscopes and visual inspection methods.
• Perform basic measurements and verification of coating characteristics (e.g., thickness, reflectance, transmittance) using standard equipment.
• Compare inspection results against established specifications and identify nonconforming conditions.
• Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records in accordance with internal procedures.
• Handle and clean optical components in accordance with established processes to prevent contamination or damage.
• Communicate inspection findings and elevate quality concerns to management or engineering as needed.
