Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics is seeking an Optical Fabricator for the 2nd shift in West Henrietta, NY. You will operate CNC and conventional centering equipment to machine precision optical components, perform inspections, and ensure adherence to tight tolerances.

Training on 1st shift precedes the transition, with a 5% shift differential and opportunities for growth. Ideal candidates bring mechanical aptitude and the ability to read specifications, with strong attention to detail and a proactive

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in manufacturing, machining, or other hands-on technical environments involving precision work.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, specifications, and procedures.
• Comfortable using basic measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, or comparators.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality.
• Ability to identify process issues and collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and conventional centering machines.
• Develop, run, and adjust CNC programs based on drawings and specifications.
• Center optical components to print while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust to maintain process control.
• Perform in-process and final inspection using metrology tools.
• Verify geometry, alignment, and surface condition per specifications.
• Document production and inspection results per procedures.
• Support process development, tooling setup, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain equipment, tooling, and workspace in proper condition.
