Job summary

CoachMePlus is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build, scale, and maintain high quality web applications. You will work with product, design, and engineering to deliver reliable, well-architected solutions and help set technical standards across the team.

This role suits hands-on developers who enjoy mentoring others and influencing technical direction while staying connected to code. US citizenship is required and the team embraces remote-friendly work with occasional in-person

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional PHP development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Laravel, Symfony, or similar frameworks.
• Strong object-oriented design and design pattern knowledge.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid SQL skills with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with frontend basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Version control with Git and background CI/CD familiarity.
• Strong problem-solving and clear communication skills.

Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and play a key role in building, scaling, and maintaining high quality web applications. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teammates to deliver reliable, well architected solutions and help set technical standards across the team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on development, mentoring others, and influencing technical direction without being fully removed from the code.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect full-stack solutions across font end, database, mobile
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable PHP applications and APIs
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code following best practices
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Lead code reviews and help establish engineering standards
• Optimize application performance, security, and scalability
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive root-cause resolution
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers
• Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term technical roadmap
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• US Citizenship
• 8+ years of professional experience with PHP development
• Strong experience with modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, or similar)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Experience with version control (Git) and interactive rebase
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical partners

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000 annually
