Job summary

Joliet Junior College seeks a full-time Coach for Multicultural & Undocumented Pathway to support underrepresented students, including English language learners and undocumented students, through coaching and referrals.

You will coordinate individualized success plans, assist with advising and registration, and collaborate with CMAS/MUR teams to promote retention and success across Joliet campuses, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two years of experience working with diverse populations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
• Experience with the educational, social, and cultural concerns of African American, Latin, Asian, international and undocumented students.
• Knowledge of regulations related to immigration and applicable federal and state laws affecting undocumented students.
• Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with college and community, showing cultural competence.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic coaching, advocacy, and referrals to support services for underrepresented, English language learners, undocumented students.
• Assist with selection of MUR/CMAS participants and develop individualized student success plans.
• Facilitate weekly communication with new MUR participants and ongoing outreach.
• Assist with registration, financial aid, NSAS, and orientation of MUR/CMAS students.
• Represent Joliet Junior College at community events and recruitment programs.
• Participate in planning MUR leadership programs and marquee events.
• Assist with academic intervention priorities; maintain databases and generate reports.
• Monitor data to inform proactive outreach to academically challenged students.
• Collaborate with MUR staff to compile data on retention and program outcomes.
• Represent the College at recruitment activities to promote programs.
• Work with Workforce Education to promote opportunities in credit coursework and certificates.
• Assist in cultural programming such as Heritage Months.
• Coordinate with campus departments to achieve MUR/CMAS goals.

Assist with the selection process of MUR/CMAS participants and develop individualized student success plans for students and provide redirection of students’ educational and/or career goals when needed.3. Facilitate weekly communication with new MUR participants and ongoing outreach to ensure students successfully implement their individualized student success plans.4. Assist with registration, financial aid, New Student Advising Sessions (NSAS), and orientation of MUR/CMAS students and college community.5. Represent Joliet Junior College at community events and other recruitment programs and initiatives targeting underrepresented, multicultural, English Language Learners, and undocumented students to expand awareness about educational programs and benefits offered.6. Actively participate in the planning and development of all MUR leadership programs and workshops, marquee events, as well as other CMAS marquee events as assigned.7. Assist with academic intervention priorities that are identified by the college. Maintain databases, track recruiting and other activities, and generate ad-hock/monthly reports.8. Monitor data that informs proactive outreach efforts to connect with academically challenged students.9. Actively support and collaborate with all MUR staff in accurately compiling data regarding retention of students served, assessment of programs and services, outcomes and report trends.10. Represent the College at recruitment/outreach activities at designated high schools, community-based organizations, college nights, and other special events to ensure those students receive follow-up directly from MUR and/or the Communication Center staff.11. Work in partnership with Workforce Education to promote opportunities for students in transition to credit coursework, academic certifications and/or degrees.12. Assist in the development, collaboration, and coordination of cultural programming such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, and Asian Heritage Month.13. Work collaboratively with appropriate individuals and other campus departments in achieving the goals and objectives of MUR, CMAS and all college initiatives and priorities.14.
