Job summary

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law seeks part-time Coaches to advance the DU Bar Success (DUBS) Program through individual and/or small group coaching of law school graduates as they prepare for bar exams.

This is an hourly, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Hours are flexible and could accommodate remote work.

Qualifications

• A JD or equivalent legal degree and bar licensure in any jurisdiction.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and providing comments on documents.

Responsibilities

• Coach students and graduates for bar exam preparation, individually or in small groups.
• Track meetings, document progress, and support learning progress.
• Proctor mock bar exams when needed at the law school.

Job description

Located in one of the nation's most iconic and dynamic cities, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has a long and distinguished tradition in experiential education. The law school features a DU Bar Success (DUBS) program for graduates of Denver Law to aid in bar preparation studies, utilizing bar exam materials. The program features workshops, mock bar exams, individualized feedback, and coaching. DUBS provides one-on-one coaching to help graduates keep on track and make the most of the learning experience.

Position Description

The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire part-time (hourly, non-benefited) Coaches to advance the DU Bar Success Program through individual and/or small group coaching of law school graduates as they prepare for bar exams.

This is an hourly, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

• Work closely with and support the Program Director and Assistant Director.
• Meet routinely with students and graduates to coach through bar exam preparation.
• Track individual meetings, document bar studier learning progress, and other information relevant to bar coaching.
• If desired and necessary, facilitate small group memorization sessions.
• If desired, proctor mock bar exams with a physical presence at the law school.

Required Qualifications

• A JD or equivalent legal degree

• Licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education, teaching, instructional design, cognitive science, counseling, and affiliated fields.
• Prior satisfactory performance as a DUBS Coach or Writing Advisor.
• License to practice law in Colorado

Work Schedule

Hours are flexible and could accommodate remote work.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for this position is $40.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The compensation offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
