Job summary

Symbotic invites you to join the Site Operations team as a Co-Op System Engineer for Spring 2027 (Jan–May). You will support the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of our robotic material handling system while gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, robotics and software.

You will shadow seasoned engineers, work on real tickets at customer sites, learn end-to-end material flow and contribute to site data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, controls, or industrial operations.
• Familiarity with PLCs, SQL, Linux, Python, Power BI, Excel, data visualization, or continuous improvement practices.
• Hands-on interest or experience assembling, operating, testing, or troubleshooting robotics and electromechanical equipment through coursework, projects, clubs, or prior work.
• Ability to analyze data, organize findings, and translate observations into practical recommendations or actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences.
• Curiosity, a bias for action, and willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment in a fast-paced customer-site environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health and troubleshoot operational, mechanical, electrical, robotics, and software-related issues.
• Shadow experienced System Engineers and progressively support system tickets and site activities.
• Analyze alarms, performance metrics, and data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Document issues clearly and communicate technical concepts to site teams and customers.
• Assist with escalations for production-impacting problems and coordinate follow-up actions.
• Own a scoped continuous improvement project using site data to address a recurring need.
• Follow safety processes and work in an active warehouse environment.
