Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Co-Op System Engineer to join the Site Operations team within Customer Operations. You will support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our robotic material handling system while gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, robotics, and software technologies.

The role is based onsite at a customer location, with mentorship and exposure to end-to-end material flow.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, controls, or industrial operations.
• Familiarity with PLCs, SQL, Linux, Python, Power BI, Excel, data visualization, or continuous improvement practices.
• Hands-on interest or experience assembling, operating, testing, or troubleshooting robotics and electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to analyze data, organize findings, and translate observations into practical recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences.
• Curiosity, a bias for action, and willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health and help troubleshoot advanced operational, mechanical, electrical, robotics, and software-related issues.
• Shadow experienced System Engineers, learn end-to-end material flow, and progressively support system tickets and site activities.
• Analyze system alarms, performance metrics, and data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Document issues clearly, communicate technical concepts to site teams and customers, and coordinate with engineering and support teams on solutions.
• Own a continuous improvement project using site data to address a recurring operational need and measure results.
