Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Co-Op System Engineer to join our Site Operations team within Customer Operations. Your role is to support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our robotic material handling system while gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, robotics, and software technologies.

This on-site role at client locations requires curiosity, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, controls or industrial operations.
• Familiarity with PLCs, SQL, Linux, Python, Power BI, Excel, data visualization or continuous improvement.
• Hands-on experience with robotics and electromechanical equipment through coursework or projects.
• Ability to analyze data, organize findings and translate observations into actionable steps.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health and troubleshoot operational, mechanical, electrical, robotics and software issues.
• Shadow experienced System Engineers and progressively support system tickets and site activities.
• Analyze alarms, metrics and data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Document issues clearly and communicate technical concepts to site teams and customers.
• Assist with escalations for production-impacting problems and coordinate follow-ups.
• Own a scoped continuous improvement project using site data to address recurring needs.
• Follow OSHA, Symbotic and customer safety processes in a warehouse environment.
