Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Spring 2027 Production Engineer Co-op at its Northeastern University program, based in Hingham, MA. You will support manufacturing operations through data analysis, Lean initiatives, and digital tool development, with a potential path into the Operations Leadership Development Program.

Ideal candidates are Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering students at Northeastern University, available January–June 2027, and prepared to work 40 hours/week on site.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related majors
• Must be enrolled as a student at Northeastern University during the co-op
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, reporting, and documentation
• Basic knowledge of industrial engineering and Lean manufacturing principles
• Available to work 40 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 7:30 am - 4:15 pm) Jan 2027–Jun 2027
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Structured experiential learning program as part of the Operations Leadership Development Program

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze production performance, including output, efficiency, downtime, quality, and labor utilization.
• Maintain production dashboards, scorecards, and action tracking systems to support daily management.
• Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Conduct process observations, time studies, bottleneck analyses, and line-balancing studies to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and implement digital tools that automate manual processes and improve operational visibility and decision-making.
• Support quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement initiatives through data analysis, audits, and corrective actions.
• Develop and standardize SOPs, visual work instructions, and operational best practices.
• Manage improvement projects from planning through implementation, tracking results and sustaining improvements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, safety, and other cross-functional teams to drive operational improvements.
