Potbelly Corporate in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking an Assistant Manager to co-lead our Potbelly shop. This role focuses on creating a welcoming, high-energy environment for team members and customers while driving operational excellence.

You will train and coach staff, interview and hire, manage schedules, control costs, and ensure food safety and customer satisfaction. The base salary is $50,000–$55,000 per year with bonus potential and leadership growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years management in food service or retail.
• Must pass state Food Safety Certification.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to schedule and manage labor goals.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach and develop Potbelly Associates and Shift Leaders.
• Effectively interview and hire Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Develop and maintain a Good Vibes culture that fosters attraction & retention.
• Effectively schedule Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Update communication board with critical shop information.
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
• Ensure all security procedures are followed.
• Ensure back-of-the-house procedural standards are met.
• Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures.
• Drive neighborhood shop marketing and promotions to maximize sales potential.
