Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to design, set up and operate CNC machining centers, lathes and mills. You will lay out work, select appropriate tooling, and produce or repair tools, dies, fixtures and gauges with tight tolerances.

You may work without detailed drawings and in environments handling hazardous waste. Experience prototyping without drawings and proven CNC programs is required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in set up of CNC Machining Centers, lathes, mills.
• Must be able to produce prototype productions without finished detailed drawings
• Must be able to prove out CNC programs

Responsibilities

• Make and repair all types of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges.
• Lay out the work and determine the sequence of operations and the kind of materials and the tools best suited to the job at hand.
• Operate tool room machine tools and perform bench work with fine tolerances.
• May work without detailed design and specifications and with only limited instruction.
• May also be required to handle hazardous waste from time to time.
