Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems seeks an entry-level Tool Engineer at JSMC in Ohio to fabricate, machine, and assemble tracked and wheeled military vehicles. You will interpret drawings, develop standard work, and create tooling for welding, assembly, and machining.

Experience with Creo/MasterCam is a plus. Strong communication and teamwork, plus ability to travel and work overtime, are valued for this role.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
• Related technical degree with work experience considered
• Experience with 3D modeling software; Creo/MasterCam is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a team-based environment
• U.S. Person per ITAR requirements
• Willing to undergo pre-employment checks and obtain facility access

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and 3D models for manufacturability with assembly processes
• Develop standard work assignments based on line balancing for varying production rates
• Develop and provide processes and instruction to production operators
• Concept and detail fixturing and tool aids for welding, assembly, machining
• Understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic requirements related to machines and fixtures
• Develop CNC programs for plate processing, 3-axis/5-axis mills
• Procure tooling and equipment to support assembly production
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing operations
• Support PSCA and continuous improvement initiatives
• Interface with on-site customer (US Government)
• Support formal teaming processes
