Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems in Pennsylvania seeks a skilled CNC programmer/operator to make and repair tooling components and fixtures, and to set up machining centers.

You will lay out work, sequence operations, troubleshoot programs, and train junior operators while meeting tight tolerances.

A high school diploma and 5–7 years CNC experience required; U.S. person status is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Experience in setup of CNC Machining Centers, lathes, and mills.
• Able to produce prototypes without finished drawings.
• Able to prove out CNC programs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to train inexperienced CNC operators.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-7 years experience in CNC programming and operation.
• Must be a U.S. Person.

The job description is as follows:

Make and repair all types of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges. Lay out the work and determine the sequence of operations and the kind of materials and the tools best suited to the job at hand. May work without benefit of detailed design and specifications and with only limited instruction. Requires the ability to operate all types of tool room machine tools and to perform all types of bench work, fitting and assembly work and to deal with fine tolerances.

This classification applies particularly to toolmakers who specialize in bench and assembly work. Tool room machine operators who specialize in the operation of certain machines to machine parts required by bench hand toolmakers are classified as machine operators, boring mill grinders, etc.

May also be required to handle/manage hazardous waste from time to time.
