Job summary

Aerotek in Rogers, MN is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to set up and run CNC lathes and mills, read blueprints, and verify parts with GD&T.

You will edit programs at the machine using G- and M-code on Fanuc controls, perform multiple setups weekly, maintain quality, and collaborate with a small shop team in a clean, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of CNC setup experience on mills or lathes.
  • Ability to perform complete setups on CNC mills and/or lathes, including tooling changes.
  • Proficiency in editing programs at the machine using G- and M-code.
  • Experience with Fanuc CNC controls.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
  • Hands-on use of calipers/micrometers for part inspection.
  • Independent worker with ability to manage multiple setups.

Job description

Job Title: CNC Setup Machinist Job Description


This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce precision metal components. You will perform regular setups, adjust tooling and fixtures, and make program edits at the machine using G- and M-code with Fanuc controls. Accuracy and quality are critical, as you will work from blueprints and use measurement tools to verify that all parts meet specifications, including longer production runs for paint sprayer components.


Responsibilities


  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision metal components according to engineering prints and specifications.


  • Perform 2–5 CNC setups per week on average, including longer production runs for paint sprayer components.


  • Change and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workpieces to support efficient and accurate production.


  • Edit programs directly at the machine using G- and M-code, including working with Fanuc controls.


  • Read and interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles to ensure parts meet dimensional and tolerance requirements.


  • Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to inspect parts and verify accuracy throughout the production process.


  • Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.


  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring machine shrapnel and debris are kept to a minimum.


  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet production schedules and continuously improve processes.



Essential Skills


  • At least 3 years of CNC setup experience on mills or lathes.


  • Ability to perform complete setups on CNC mills and/or lathes, including changing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces.


  • Proficiency in editing programs at the machine using G- and M-code.


  • Experience working with Fanuc CNC controls.


  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including understanding and applying GD&T.


  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience using measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.


  • Solid knowledge of dimensional inspection practices to ensure part accuracy.


  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple setups and production runs.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rogers, MN.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $75000.00/yr.


Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
