Job summary

CoorsTek is seeking a CNC Set-Up I in Oak Ridge, TN. This role involves loading preset CNC programs, making minor adjustments, and operating CNC machinery to produce quality parts.

You will inspect parts for defects, perform basic machine maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe work area. The ideal candidate has at least three years of relevant experience, basic CAD/CAM and G/M code knowledge, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Three years of relevant experience required.
• High school diploma preferred, but not required.
• Must understand verbal and written instructions; basic math and computer skills; CAD/CAM programs and G/M codes; GD&T and SPC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machinery by loading preset programs and minor adjustments.
• Operate CNC equipment to produce compliant parts per work instructions.
• Inspect parts for defects during in-process checks and document results.
• Perform basic machine maintenance such as coolant and filter changes.
• Transport and stage product using hand-truck, pallet jack, or forklift.
• Keep work area clean and wear required PPE at all times.

(Multiple Shifts) CNC Set Up I Machinists are responsible for loading and making minor adjustments to preset CNC programs and operating manufacturing machinery to produce acceptable product. Works within a team environment to meet departmental goals. Maintains work area cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Perform CNC machinery set-up function by downloading preset CNC programs; make minor adjustments to CNC programs to direct sequence of machine operation
• Operate CNC manufacturing equipment to produce acceptable product per work instructions
• Inspect parts for defects as part of in-process inspection; record results and notify appropriate person of deviation when needed
• Perform basic machine adjustments such as off-sets or setting tapers and basic preventative maintenance such as changing coolants, filters, etc.
• Stack and transport product via hand-truck, pallet jack, forklift, crane, or hoist
• Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment
• Wears required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where mandatory

Job Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• Experience: Three (3) year relevant experience
• Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions
  • Intermediate math (algebra, geometry) and computer skills
  • Ability to learn, understand and utilize CAD/CAM programs and G and M codes
  • Ability to understand and use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

Shifts

M-F morning, evening or overnight Fri-Sun 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am

Target Hiring Range : 22.00 - 25.00 Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
