Job summary

CoorsTek in Worcester, MA seeks a CNC Set-Up II for swing shift to load presets, adjust tooling and offsets, and sometimes create simple programs to meet quality requirements.

You will read drawings and GD&T, perform in-process checks, and assist in training less experienced staff while maintaining safe, efficient operation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification preferred.
  • Two (2) years CNC manufacturing experience; three (3) years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-axis CNC set-up by loading preset programs and adjusting offsets, tooling, and parameters.
  • Operate CNC equipment to produce product per work instructions.
  • Read blueprints and GD&T to determine setup and inspection needs.
  • Conduct in-process inspection and record results, adjusting programs as needed.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as coolant/filter changes.
  • Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and dimensional issues; escalate complex problems.
  • Share setup best practices with newer CNC staff and leadership.
  • Maintain clean work area and assist in onboarding trainees.

Job description

Job Title

CNC Set-Up II - Swing Shift Responsible for performing multi-axis CNC set-up and operation by loading preset programs, making approved program and parameter adjustments, and creating simple CNC programs when needed to produce acceptable product according to work instructions, drawings, quality requirements and established processes. Supports set-up quality, production efficiency and consistency within assigned machining operations.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Perform multi-axis CNC machine set-up function by loading preset programs, making approved adjustments to existing programs, offsets, tooling and machinig parameters, or by creating simple programs when needed within established process requirements.

  • Operate CNC manufacturing equipment to produce acceptable product per work instructions.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and work instructions to determine machine set-up, tooling needs, inspection requirements and production steps.

  • Perform in-process inspection using established methods; record results, make approved program adjustments, and notify appropriate person of deviation when needed.

  • Perform machine adjustments such as off-sets or setting tapers and basic preventative maintenance such as changing coolants, filters, etc.

  • Troubleshoot routing set-up, tooling, dimensional and machining issues within assigned production processes; escalates complex or recurring issues as appropriate.

  • Identify basic opportunities to improve set‑up efficiency, machining consistency, or work instruction clarity and communicate recommendations to senior CNC personnel or leadership.

  • Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment.

  • Assist in training incoming or less experienced CNC Set‑up personnel on basic set‑up processes and procedures.


Job Requirements


  • Schedule Swing Shift: Monday – Friday: 2:00pm - 10:30 PM $2.50 Shift Differential

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required Vocational or technical certification preferred

  • Experience: Two (2) years relevant CNC manufacturing experience Three (3) years relevant CNC experience preferred

  • Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions Ability to interpret, edit and modify existing CNC programs and create simple programs within established process requirements Intermediate math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) and computer skills Working knowledge of CNC program structure, G & M codes, and CAD/CAM outputs to support set-up, operation and simple program adjustments Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds


Target Hiring Range

Target Hiring Range Hourly: USD 28.68 - USD 34.97 Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
