Job summary

Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator to set up and run lathes for rolls produced in the mill. You will read instructions, select tools, and ensure finished sizes meet specifications.

The role involves manual and CNC operations, with attention to tolerances and process improvements. Base compensation is around $64,000 per year, including overtime, bonuses and shift premiums; benefits include health, dental, disability and retirement plan options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with CNC lathes and precision turning.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders accurately.
• Adherence to safety policies and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe to machine rolls to finished size and contour.
• Select and profile cutting tools; adjust speeds/feeds per material.
• Inspect dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and gauges for tolerance.
• Operate EDM to brand rolls and perform finishing tasks on rolls.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines; maintain equipment and cleanliness.
